Loving our neighbors.
Seeking the flourishing of our city.

Jesus calls His followers to love their neighbors—not only with words, but through presence, compassion, and practical service.

At Refresh, we believe disciples don't simply gather on Sundays—they are sent into their neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities to bring the hope of Jesus wherever they go.

Because of that, we are deeply committed to the flourishing of University City and the surrounding communities we call home.

Why Neighborhoods?

Our church is located in the heart of University City, one of the most diverse communities in the St. Louis region.

We celebrate the beauty of our city—its diversity, creativity, and rich sense of community—while also recognizing the real needs and disparities that exist.

Rather than standing at a distance, we believe God has called us to be present: building relationships, serving our neighbors, and partnering with others to seek the good of our community.

How We Serve Our Neighbors

Community Partnerships

We partner with local organizations and the University City School District to serve students, families, and educators through meaningful relationships and practical support.

Counseling & Coaching

Through the Refresh Family Center’s counseling center called Karis House (link), we provide accessible counseling, coaching, and scholarship opportunities that promote emotional, mental, and spiritual health for individuals, couples, and families.

Mentoring

In partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and the University City School District, we invite members of our church family to invest in the next generation through life-changing mentoring relationships.

New City Work Days

Each spring and summer, we partner with another University City church to serve marginalized neighbors in our community through New City Work Days. Together, we complete practical home projects and repairs for neighbors who need an extra hand, demonstrating the love of Christ through service and partnership.

Grace & Peace Women's Shelter

During the winter months, we partner with Grace & Peace Women's Shelter by preparing meals, serving alongside their team, and building meaningful relationships with women experiencing homelessness. Our desire is not only to meet practical needs, but to offer dignity, encouragement, and the hope of Jesus through consistent presence.

Prayer & Presence

We regularly pray for our city, its leaders, schools, businesses, and neighborhoods, believing God is at work as we faithfully serve the place He has called us.
